Artist's Statement:
My love of nature, which is evident in my work, was fostered by my parents. My father worked outdoors and his observations of the natural world often kept us entertained at the family dinner table. My mother kept a garden and I often believe that my love of colour, shape and design was born there.
My preferred medium is watercolour, although I also work in graphite, pen and ink, and acrylic.
I love to paint and draw on location, almost always in my sketchbook. My on location sketches are integral to my process. They inform and underpin everything I paint. They allow me to get to know and understand my subject so that when I return to my studio I am free to play, imagine and create
